Peak Heat

2 PM EDT Plots

4:00 PM Update: NWS corrects BDL time of record high to 2:16 PM.

3:35 PM Update: BDL reached a record high of 92 degrees at 1:16 PM this afternoon.

Just stepped out for a sample of today’s weather and I’d say it’s one of the most comfortable 90 degree days I can recall.  Yes, BDL has tied their record high of 90 degrees as of 2 PM.  However, with a nice breeze (at least in the south-facing openings in Hartford) and some high clouds filtering the sun somewhat, I though it felt pretty nice (easy to say being back here in the A/C, I guess).  There is a seabreeze working up from the south.  GON dropped 4 degrees the past hour to 65.  Meriden dropped a couple to 83.  Harford’s temp remained unchanged the past hour.

Today is the peak of the current warm spell.  There are 2 cold fronts getting ready to move through our region.  One comes through tonight, the other during the

day tomorrow.  It appears that they will come through dry, though we could really use the rain.  I think lows tonight will average 55-60 under a clear to partly cloudy sky and highs Tuesday reach about 75-80, with mostly sunny conditions.    Temps will stay in the 60′s Wednesday with a mix of sun & clouds.  Might not see any rain until the weekend.
